The bed, column, and saddle are composed of Meehanite GA-50 grade cast iron, which includes very high dampening characteristics. The one piece bed casting and column are stress relieved to ensure machine geometry is maintained throughout the life. Wide spacing of the square box ways ensure optimal support for the table and saddle in full travel of each axis. Heavily ribbed castings provide superior dampening for high speed machining and aggressive milling. The mating surfaces of all critical contact points including the column, base, saddle and gibs are hand scrapped to optimize fit and accuracy.


The way surfaces are hardened and ground square box ways with turcite on all axes. The ways are spaced to eliminate table pitch and deformation. Oversized box way surfaces for the Y axis provide superior support of the saddle and table. The way surfaces on all three axes utilize gibs with easy adjustment to maximize rigidity and maintain geometry throughout the life of the machine tool.


The 6,000 rpm CT50 cartridge style spindle is standard with permanently greased spindle bearings requiring no maintenance.The two range internal geared head is driven by a 2 speed 35/25HP (26/18 kW) AC servo motor. Rigid tapping is standard.


Each axis is driven using a high precision, fully ground ball screw. Each of the axes ball screws are double anchored to allow exceptionally fast feedrates. All the ball screws are supported using angular contact thrust bearings and are perfectly centered between the box ways. The 45 mm ball screws are driven directly using direct-coupled AC servo type drive motors eliminating vibration, noise, and backlash.


The 24 pocket dual arm ATC provides quick, reliable tool changes.


The machine enclosure is made of heavy duty sheet metal to contain the chips and coolant. The entire machine is fully enclosed. The side doors allow direct access to the inside of the machine. The front door opening (46") allows for easily loading and unloading of work pieces.


A dedicated flood pump provides high volume coolant to the machine tool. The coolant nozzles are fully adjustable to accommodate various tool lengths. The 70 gallon coolant tank provides adequate capacity for any application.


Enclosure washdown is used for flushing chips from the slanted bottom of the enclosure into the chip auger. A single, 4" pitch chip auger removes the chips efficiently from the machine.


Automatic lubrication is provided to the way surfaces and ball screws via way oil. Oil is delivered by metered valves, which precisely control the volume. A low-level alarm on the CNC warns the user preventing possible damage to the ways and ball screws.


The edit key enables protection of programs as well as parameters of the 8200-B CNC control. Removal of the key limits a user from loading programs and parameters such as work coordinates and tool offsets. With the edit key in the off position the data in the CNC control is available for editing.
