The bed, column, and saddle are composed of a stable, fine grain grade of cast iron, which includes very high dampening characteristics. The one piece bed casting and column are stress relieved to ensure machine geometry is maintained throughout the life. Wide spacing of the linear guide ways ensure optimal support for the table and saddle in full travel of each axis. Heavily ribbed castings provide superior dampening for high speed machining and aggressive milling. The mating surfaces of all critical contact points including the column, linear bearing blocks, linear guide ways, and table surfaces are fully ground to optimize fit and accuracy.



The X, Y, / Z-axis are standard with heavy-duty 35/45 mm linear guide ways. The guide ways are widely spaced (X 300 mm, Y 650 mm, Z 370 mm) to eliminate table pitch and deformation. The guide ways on all three axes are clamped into place using wedge clamps to maximize rigidity and geometry.



The 10,000 rpm cartridge style spindle is standard with a Big Plus® dual contact technology. Taper and face contact proves to provide excellent rigidity allowing for decreased tool deflection and cycle times. The permanently greased spindle bearings require no maintenance. The 10,000 rpm spindle is driven by a 20/15 HP (15/11 kW) AC servo motor. Rigid tapping is standard.



Each axis is driven using a high precision, fully ground pre-loaded double nut ball screw. Each of the axes ball screws are double anchored to allow exceptionally fast feedrates. Each ball screw is centered between the linear guide ways. The 32 mm X and Y axis ball screws are belt driven while the 40 mm Z axis ball screw is driven directly using direct-coupled AC servo type drive motors eliminating vibration, noise, and backlash.



The 20 pocket double arm ATC utilizes a motor driven cam to provide smooth, quick and reliable tool changes.



The machine enclosure is made of heavy duty sheet metal to contain the chips and coolant. The entire machine is fully enclosed including the top. The removable side doors allow direct access to the inside of the machine. The front door opening (41") allows for easily loading and unloading of work pieces.



A dedicated flood pump provides high volume coolant to the machine tool. The coolant nozzles are fully adjustable to accommodate various tool lengths with individual flow control valves. The 32 gallon coolant tank provides adequate capacity for any application.



The enclosure is designed with a slanted bottom, migrating the chips to the front of the enclosure where they are easily accessed for cleaning. An optional chip auger or chip conveyor is available that is integrated into the machine enclosure that efficiently removes chips from the machine enclosure.



Automatic lubrication is provided to the linear guide ways and ball screws via a positive displacement electric oil pump. Oil is delivered by metered valves, which precisely control the volume. A two liter oil reservoir allows hours of machine operation before refilling. A low oil level alarm on the CNC warns the user preventing possible damage to the guide ways and ball screws.



The axes can be moved with the remote handwheel to ease setup and set work coordinates. The remote handwheel can move the axis in increments of 1, 10, or 100. The side button can be used to set the work coordinate for the selected axis. 


The edit key enables protection of programs as well as parameters of the 9000 CNC control. Removal of the key limits a user from loading programs and parameters such as work coordinates and tool offsets. With the edit key in the off position the data in the CNC control is available for editing.



The powerful 300 psi coolant through spindle system aides in deep hole drilling and improves overall cutting performance while promoting longer tool life. The CTS cooling also helps dissipate heat build-up in the work piece improving part accuracy. The Coolant Through Spindle system includes the rotary union, separate pump and easily accessible auxiliary tank with filter.
